This page explains what happens with your data when you visit Counted & Crossed (countedandcrossed.com). I've tried to write it in plain language rather than pure legal boilerplate — if anything here is unclear, contact me and I'll clarify or fix it.

The short version

I don't run any accounts, logins, comments, or newsletter on this site, so I don't collect or store personal information directly. The interactive tools (fabric calculators, the image stitch-count estimator, and so on) run entirely in your browser — nothing you type or upload in them is sent to me or to any server. If and when this site carries ads, they'll be served through Google AdSense, which involves cookies from Google and its advertising partners, described below.

Hosting logs

Like essentially every website, the hosting provider that serves this site automatically logs basic technical information for security and troubleshooting — things like IP address, browser type, and pages requested. I don't actively review this data for tracking purposes, and it isn't linked to any personal profile.

Cookies and advertising

At the time of writing, this site does not yet display ads. If Google AdSense is enabled in the future, Google and its partner vendors may use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet. This is how most ad-supported sites work — it allows ads to be more relevant, and it's what keeps reference content like this free to read.

If that's active when you're reading this:

If you're visiting from the EU, UK, or another region with its own consent requirements, personalized ads will only run with your consent, and I'll update this policy with the specifics of how that consent is collected once ads are actually live.

Analytics

This site does not currently run any analytics or tracking scripts beyond what's described above. If that changes, this page will be updated to reflect it.

Children's privacy

This site isn't directed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect information from anyone in that age group.

Changes to this policy

If how this site handles data changes — most likely when ads go live — I'll update this page and the "last updated" date at the top.
